The
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is taking public comments on a landfill proposed by the Cortina Band of Wintun Indians of California.
The tribe plans to build a landfill on a 640-acre site on the reservation. The tribe's partner is
Earthworks, a Canadian company.
A group called
Colusa Citizens for Safe Water opposes the project. Residents say the landfill will pollute drinking water.
The comment period closes on Friday.
